Summer Takeover #3 - Me!
Hey gang!
It's Ella from the past.
I hope that you're loving the content that James & Millie shared the past two weeks! I'm here to drop in and offer up my own summer faves, before the lovely Jazz rounds up the last week of July!
So, here are my summer FAVES.

Movie Mention
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Now this film is what I call a summer vibe watch. I discovered this film over 5 years ago during my anime/manga phase. Without spoiling too much, the plot consists of a school girl who accidentally finds a way to time travel and decides to use it to her advantage. It's such an interesting plot which covers themes of consequence, friendship and the weight of decisions.
I always watch this film before the run up to summer, as the beautiful backgrounds and soundtrack of cicadas just fills me with hope for the warmer weather.
Song Crush
Summer is my absolute favourite season, and I end up listening to a lot of music during it due to walking to work or making a creative piece with some tunes in the background.
My ultimate summer jam is Water's Gettin' Too Hot by TalkFine
I found it via this video which I think really captures the vibe of the song!

The Time Travellers Wife
Funny how I'm writing a lot about time travel despite not being a sci-fi fan!!!
You may have heard of this book by it's mediocre film adaption! This is my absolute favourite book. I love it so much. A quick plot synopsis is that a time traveller keeps finding himself visit a girl in her childhood home. This continues as she grows older and eventually they get married and become a team. The book has 2, but essentially 4 narrators as the book dips in and out of the past, present and future. This is part of why it's my favourite book because once you understand the plot you can start reading from anywhere in the text!
I had a phase where I would take this book everywhere and read in my local park after a bike-ride. It's an emotional, loving, humorous and touching book. I recommend it to everyone (not the film)
Netflix Natter
Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp
So, if you didn't know, Wet Hot American Summer is actually a three-part series that covers the antics of a summer camp. I love the vibe of summer camps and the whole romance of them (I LOVE The Parent Trap) and this series hits the nail on the head.
The series chronology starts with this wonderful Netflix series about the first day of the camp. The original film covers the last day of camp and the second Netflix series covers the camp 10 years later (a promise made in the original film).
It's crudely hilarious, has such a talented ensemble cast and just writing about it is making me want to watch it again! It's 8 episodes and perfect to binge on those hot summer days, so get to it!

That rounds up my summer in-put! I'll be back in August with some more recommendations and hopefully some summer stories of my own!
