E-Mail #19 Basketball & Fake Endings

Hello dear reader,

No update last week as I wasn't really feeling like writing E-Mail. Sometimes that happens, and I was sat trying to write up some segments but my heart wasn't in it. But we're back now, so I hope you enjoy the content!

Song Crush

I honestly haven't been listening to much new music recently. I'm on a 'put entire Spotify library on shuffle' kind of journey with sprinklings of podcasts. Instead of recommending a musical theatre number, I thought I'd share a song from a film that I really, really dig. DeVotchKa did a lot of the music for Little Miss Sunshine and it's a song I return to quite often for a relaxing re-listen that brings you back to a certain feeling. The song for me has this feeling of hope and motivation, and the strings just bring it aaaaaall back.

Good News

Good news this week is that I have been perfecting a costume for a leaving/birthday/house warming party I've been invited to (look at her) and it's so ridiculous, can't wait to share next week.

Video Corner

Millie sent this to me the other day, and I completely stopped what I was doing to watch it because by god was this a good video. It's 7 years old, with a very basic prank with an amazing pay-off.

Netflix Natter

I'm still job hunting, which means I'm also watching a lot of Netflix in-between bouts of feeling sorry for my self and applying for jobs I have no hope of getting! And pretty much all the shows I'm going to talk about are weirdly negative and self-deprecating. Sorry lads.

Sex Education is a show that I kept seeing pop-up but just ignored, till I saw a friend gushing about how good the characters were that I decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did! A show about (oddly) British teenagers organising their own sex advice clinic for cash, but it's not as simple of that. It covers different issues and dynamics, and it's quite refreshing to see. Can't wait for the next season.

Friends From College was a bit of a curveball choice, but I came around to it after watching an interview with Billy Eichner and Cobie Smulders chat about the show so I had a curious poke around.  Boy is this messed up! A pack of college friends are reunited 20 years later in the same time and all hell breaks loose as they act like a bunch of twenty year olds, but now they have kids and careers. Unfortunately the show was cancelled just a few days ago, but if you want to see 2 seasons of adults fucking up their lives, give it a go.

Corporate Another unlikely choice (not even Netflix), but after seeing Anna Akana and Chris Fleming as guest stars I thought, hey, it's going to be okay. I've only seen a handful of episodes so I can't really judge but man is this show fucked up. An evil corporation makes their employees fix their mistakes, and it's so depressing but funny at the same time. A manager fixes an employees lack of sleep by forcing them to play basketball at 5am. Two employees delay firing an employee because they know where all the cake in the office is. It's so whacky and stupid, I love it.

Sorry again about last week, I get bored with this format sometimes and It's so easy to stick to it without changing things.

I had an idea to get some more feedback on E-Mail and see if there was anything I could do to mix it up, so if you're inclined, please complete my survey
