E-Mail #14 Movies & Coconuts

Tis I!

Hello there, welcome to 2019!

I hope you enjoyed Millie's takeover last week! As with the last time it's a bit weird to take a break from this weekly ritual, but its lovely to see someone else tackle the format and I love to see how each take is different! (if you want to takeover E-Mail one week, slide into my DM's)

I also hope you enjoyed my 2018 content review! I really enjoyed putting it together because I just want people to consume the same stuff as me so I have someone to talk to about it!

Onto the regular scheduled content!

Good News

I've started to get back into reading! A goal of mine in 2019 is to internet less and read more. I have a stack of new books that I got from a book share scheme last year and I've already read 2 books. Can't wait to actually read new books (I usually re-read everything I own) that are very different in genre.

Song Crush

So this song is a hint for something I'm going to talk about later in this post! This is a song that really stuck in my head, an ear worm if you will. The lyrics keep rolling around in my head, and I like the slow beat of the song! It's got some interesting themes and I have a feeling I'll be listening to it quite a bit! It's not the type of song I listen to a lot, so it's nice to discover songs outside of your usual range!

Video Corner

I actually came across this video this morning as I was on a bit of a Jimmy Fallon youtube hole. I love a bit of Andy Samberg and this skit is just so funny to me. If you like the Pina Colada song then you'll enjoy this!

I also wanted to slot in this skit from Fairbairn Films that caught me off guard and gave me a good laugh. It's a skit about the outrageousness of movie snack prices. It's played so straight which I think makes it funnier.

Whittaker's Toasted Coconut Slab

This little bar was sent to me by Millie & Ynte (who I seem to name drop every damn week) all the way from Australia for Christmas!

I expected this to be very much like a bounty!

But it wasn't! It was more of a chocolate bar with coconut woven within. I was pleasantly surprised and was a good start to the day (I ate it for breakfast this week, I am a perfect example for healthy living) 7/10

Movie Mention

You may guess by the title, that I am now going to talk about films. 2 films to be exact, because I went to the cinema twice in a week which is very out there of me.

I saw Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse (planned) and The Favourite (unplanned)

So, I now care about spiderman? I didn't before. When the previous Spiderman film came out, I refused to see it and saw Baby Driver instead because it was better. Now I care about it. Why? Because this film is phenomenal. I was just gobsmacked when it finished. The music? Amazing. The animation? Breathtaking. The characters? Loveable. It was just such a good film. I'd happily see it again. I highly recommend.

Now The Favourite is a film I've had my eye on ever since news about it came out. A sapphic period film featuring power play? Sign me up. I saw this import with my friend Ashleigh and it was the right decision. A really interesting film that uses music in a really specific way. There are so many lines in this film that I want to quote because the script is impeccable. The ending is a bit huh? but this film has a real lasting impact on you.

Alright pups that's it for this week.

Bye!
