E-Mail #13 Pinholes & 3DS (Millie Takeover)

Afternoon, or good morning, to ya!

I am Ella’s friend, Millie, and this week I’ll be taking over the eeeee-mail, and what a real honour it is! I normally live in the same town as Ella, however for the next few months I am residing in the land down under. You can catch me mostly active on my Instagram

I’d like to share with you some things I’ve found on the internet, so grab yourself a cup of something warm and choose your favourite biccy, sit aside for a few moments, chill, and I hope you enjoy the content!

Tweet Of The Week

This one warmed my heart. It speaks for itself, just cute. We can all picture our grandma or grandpa putting some serious hours into the sweetest game in existence.

Video Corner

This video follows a group that work to create a camera out of an abandoned house. It’s 30 minutes long, however stick with it as their process is beautiful. The group photograph a centenarian named Ted, whose story is as touching as the process of the film is. The resulting piece is recognised as the world’s largest wet plate collodion image, and really reminds you how rad the humankind is, and how analogue chemistry is basically magic.

Art & Memes

In this section I’m going to share with you some of my fave art and meme pieces. And yes, I am combining both. I couldn’t decide which was more important to me, sorry.

The image above was taken on Christmas day in Outer Spac…no, sorry, in Scotland 1970, this is an image I’ve recently come across and love. It sparks my imagination, and reminds me that black and white street photography is cool.

This one really tickled me. Simpsons memes have recently had a revival, and I am loving it. The simple qualities of this ridiculous creation is something that I think we can all relate to in some way or another, yeah??

The final part of this segment I’d like to share is the Solarcan

This project is the world’s first commercially available time exposure camera. Pinhole photography is as basic as taking a photo can get, and this process forces and teaches you to take time, reflect, and be sure about your subject and your resulting image. I’ll be frank, I’m shit at it, however the photographs that come from it are GORGEOUS. Like seriously, takes breath away kinda beautiful. Have a look below, the camera’s come preloaded and the instructions are eeeasy! Follow the website, and if you give it a go please work your magic and share your work with me, I’d love to see it!

So there we have it, a little insight into what I find interesting, or funny. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this as much as I have enjoyed writing it! Maybe Ella and I should do a write up about how we met? I’ll see what she thinks.
If you have any questions, or wanna chat about art, please shoot me DM on insta! Otherwise, it is back to you Ella!!
